#FENICE (#PHOENIX)

The artwork #FENICE (#PHOENIX) is a painting inspired by stories of rebirth. As a symbol of evolution, acquired wisdom, self-conquest and life force embodiment, this figure reminds us of the path we must take while going through periods of profound changes.

The work was created for “Crash”, an art competition organized by the Galleria Spazio 1b in Lugano in collaboration with the 2019 Biennale dell’Immagine in Chiasso.

The theme aimed to look at moments of breaking points, tension and conflict, both in the inner and social dimension, seeking fragments full of energy from which to start again. Crash is seen as something that brings about change and inspires new beginnings, taken on by the artist with the figure of the phoenix.

The phoenix is a mythological bird that can rise from the ashes in the midst of a continuous whirlwind of end and beginning, conclusion and regeneration, destruction and rebirth. A symbol of evolution, acquired wisdom, getting in touch with one's own personality, and personifying life force, the figure brings to mind the path taken during profound phases of change.

The #FENICE painting came about after listening to people talk about their experiences of rebirth, of rebuilding from the debris left on the ground, when from the darkness of destruction the outline of the known merged into every possible present. This was the necessary inspiration that brought about the winds of truth, which perhaps until that moment remained dormant; a mirror one can truly look into in order to take flight once again.

Installation #BIOSFERA (biosphere) #FENICE (phoenix)

The #BIOSFERA art installations stem from the need to widen our experience of the encounter. The development of the paintings leads to the creation of inflatable spheres that represent our inner world at the mercy of reality. The idea is to stimulate thinking about what might be the essential requirements needed for everyone's existence (both our own and that of others) to expand into the realm of acceptance and dignity, as well as to focus our attention on ever fleeting boundaries between the public and private spheres.
