#NOI1 (#US1)

The artwork #NOI1 (#US1) is a painting inspired by the answers given to the question: 'How do you see yourself?'. It is a symbol of awareness and acceptance, both of oneself and of others, and represents an ultimate 'us' in which there is no discrimination or exclusion. It is a painting in which the uniqueness and extraordinariness of each individual are celebrated, in full respect of each identity.

The work was created for a competition organized by the Spazio 1b Gallery in collaboration with the Lugano Pride Parade and is meant as an inquiry into gender and sexual discrimination. It was chosen for a group exhibition which took place from May 30th to September 30th, 2018.

By means of a call to action carried out through various social channels, we gathered about forty answers to the question "how do you see yourself?". After listening to them carefully, the painting #NOI1 was born. An absolute US has therefore been created from the awareness of the accepted self, where there is no discrimination or diversity. It is an US made up of individual personalities who have recognized themselves, united thanks to the act of presence.

Project:

Through sheer observation, with eyes devoid of desires, judgements and needs, human beings reveal themselves as what they are: nature, creation, soul and beauty. If we turn to others with fear, hope or demands, we will not be able to capture their essence but only the reflection of our own will. On the other hand, if we face them with abandonment, with sheer observation, they will appear in our eyes as unique, extraordinary individuals. Observing means not seeking anything, but loving without any desires. This, however, is something we cannot demand when meeting others if we have not practised it ourselves first.

Installation #BIOSFERA (biosphere) #NOI1 (us1)

The #BIOSFERA art installations stem from the need to widen our experience of the encounter. The development of the paintings leads to the creation of inflatable spheres that represent our inner world at the mercy of reality. The idea is to stimulate thinking about what might be the essential requirements needed for everyone's existence (both our own and that of others) to expand into the realm of acceptance and dignity, as well as to focus our attention on ever fleeting boundaries between the public and private spheres.
