#UNIVERSUS

The artwork #UNIVERSUS is a painting inspired by the stories of places that people keep in their hearts. As a symbol of belonging, it represents the desire to find one's own place on earth, a centre that can be reached by following the path that leads to becoming, both of the world and of oneself, like a star that is capable of guiding pilgrims during their long and dark nights, of whatever nature they may be.

The work was created for the eleventh edition of the Bally Foundation award with the subject 'the extra-geographical World', launched by the Bally Foundation for Culture in Caslano in 2019.

How does one create a painting/map representing a human geography without time limits and boundaries, explorable and inhabitable by anyone without needing authorisation and that, despite being constantly expanding and evolving, represents at any given time the way to reach the hidden treasure? By generating a #UNIVERSUS where the one (uni) is turned towards (versus) us (us): a Space is born of people, for people and spreadable through them.

'Tell me about your dearest place', was the question posed in the corresponding call to action. This enabled intimate realities to appear spontaneously on the surface and thus become territories, later transposed on to canvas.

Man exists within himself with his own truth as well as outside through his actions in the world. Those who have donated a place dear to them, have created a bridge between these two realities that is forever accessible thanks to the observation and listening of others who, stimulated by the dialogue, can in turn build and offer their own.

Thus a map was formed where boundaries have been transformed into passages leading to places conquered not through occupation, but through the enrichment received by the encounter between individuals, between the internal and external worlds, between past/present/future, between reception and action, between distinctiveness and the whole and between all opposites, as opposites are the poles that at the same time repel and attract, developing and transforming themselves.

#UNIVERSUS is a painting that symbolizes the extra-geography in which everyone can find their place on earth, which can be reached following the path that leads to become both of the world and of oneself, until it evolves into that shining star that can guide the wandering pilgrims during the long and dark nights, of whatever nature they may be.

Installation #BIOSFERA #UNIVERSUS

The #BIOSFERA art installations stem from the need to widen our experience of the encounter. The development of the paintings leads to the creation of inflatable spheres that represent our inner world at the mercy of reality. The idea is to stimulate thinking about what might be the essential requirements needed for everyone's existence (both our own and that of others) to expand into the realm of acceptance and dignity, as well as to focus our attention on ever fleeting boundaries between the public and private spheres.
